Over 100 years ago, America’s $1 Silver Certificate featured the magnificent “Black Eagle” soaring over the Washington D.C. skyline. This “horse blanket” dollar with portraits of Presidents Lincoln and Grant is valued as much for its artwork as for its scarcity. Obsolete for more than 80 years, this spectacular 19th century treasure is a collector favorite. It wasn’t until 1928 that the smaller size dollar was issued by the United States Treasury.
